2023 - Present
Microfarming
Late 2023, my wife and I decided to start growing seasonal vegetables and herbs for our baby, who was about to dive into solids. What began as a fun weekend project- exploring micro-farming is now a family hobby. We’ve dubbed it Nit's Garden, our little micro-farm, and it’s become a weekend family affair, a living lab, and a seasonal rhythm we’ve grown into. Our goal is simple: Cultivate fresh, organic produce that’s in tune with the seasons and works for our small family. We’re learning as we go, aiming to better optimize what we plant and harvest.
Neither of us had a green thumb when starting this. during this time custom GPTs were picking up steam, so I built Maali Uncle GPT, a custom AI bot trained on local Indian conditions. It’s now the Robin to our Batman for planning planting seasons and troubleshooting.
Nit's Garden isn’t about perfection, it’s personal, iterative, and alive. We share seasonal updates below to track our progress, screw-ups included. For us, it’s a quiet rebellion against the rush of life, where butterfly "fly-bys" are a welcome bonus.
Update: Winter Season: Nov 2024 - Mar 2025
This winter, we scaled up our tomato cultivation. We experimented with intercropping them alongside leafy greens: Methi, spinach, etc. Unf it didn’t pan out. The greedy tomatoes hogged all the sunlight and nutrients. Lesson learned. Next winter, we’ll let the tomatoes party solo and give the greens their own stage. Broadly, this season’s haul was a win. Juicy and Nit's approved. We're now planning out the next season - stay tuned.

TBH, neither of us had a green thumb to start with. In late 2023, with custom GPTs picking up steam, I built Maali Uncle GPT, a custom AI bot trained on local Indian conditions. It’s now my trusty sidekick for planning planting seasons and troubleshooting.
